9 Things to get the year off to a good start

During holidays and the beginning of January (basically before I dive back into client work), I always do a chunk of admin work to clear the decks for a fresh start in the new year and I always feel so much better for doing it. Here are some of the things you can do to get the year off to a good start…

Update the year on the copyright footer on your website:

Change the year or check if it has changed automatically if you have set it up that way. Or get it set up to do this automatically. I did this last year so I don’t have to worry about it anymore. It felt good when I checked that it worked on 1st January 🤓

Check your terms and policies:

Make sure your terms and conditions and privacy policy are correct and up to date. Then make sure all of your checkouts and sales pages link to them.

Create a Funnel Map so you can keep yourself organised:

Grab Funnel Mapping Made Easy for a super organised way to do this or join us in Tech VA in Your Pocket and get it included in your membership.

Review your freebies and connected offers:

You could do this with your Funnel Map! 👆

Make sure your accounts are up to date:

  • Get on track with tax savings etc
  • Chase up unpaid invoices
  • Review your business expenses and decide if there is anything you can get rid of or replace with a better option
  • Follow up with any potential clients so you can hit the ground running
  • Check if there was anyone who wasn’t quite ready to work with you. Maybe they are ready for you now

Clean up your files:

  • Clear out your downloads
  • Get rid of your trash
  • Clear your desktop files
  • Scrap the screenshots
  • Back everything up

Schedule an email subscriber clean up:

Check who hasn’t interacted with your list in a while and send them an email to let them know to confirm if they would like to stay on your list.

Check your website for dead links:

You can do this by checking for 404 errors in Google Analytics or if you have WordPress, you could run a plugin to check. I use WP 301 redirects PRO so I can manage it all in one place and create redirects to any errored links.

Get your tech and marketing feeling good:

Come and join us in Tech VA in Your Pocket and let me support you with the yucky bits and clear the confusion.
